Farmall A

We are now restoring a Farmall A that came to us from the little hamlet of Guilford, New York.

A new pin and bushings had to be manufactured for the front axle center pivot support; we replaced a broken rocker arm in the cylinder head, and repaired all hydraulic leaks. At some period of time someone had tried to replace the front crank shaft seal. They attempted this without removing the timing cover and then tried to chisel away part of the cover to get at the seal. They then used a silicone to try to keep the seal in place. We replaced the right side tie rod end and shifter cover gasket. We rebuilt the generator, removed calcium from the tires, and installed new PTO seal & belt pulley seal. Before sending it to the paint room it was dyno tested at 18 hp.

The owner of this Farmall wanted to restore & paint this tractor, but also wanted to keep some of it flaws that it acquires thru age. So no new tin was purchased. It had a previous inferior paint job, so sandblasting was the best method to obtain a quality paint finish. Following sandblasting the entire tractor was primed & the tin was sanded. Bondo was applied to the most prominent areas. Finally, International Red Rouge paint was sprayed over the entire tractor.

We will put pictures up when decals are added.
