This 1977 International 686 tractor, serial number 2450174V9633, is from Elmsford, New York, and is owned by the same family with the International 1086. The tractor was purchased from a local dealer and originally came from the Midwest with 2506 original hours. He plans on showing it at a “Red Power Roundup” and local shows.
The International Harvester 686 is nearly identical to the IH 666; it was simply renamed when the 86 series arrived in 1976. One major change did occur in 1979; the 310 diesel engine replaced the 312 engine.
This antique tractor was in great condition—only needing new belts, hoses, light grommets, shifter boots, and knobs. Finally, before the final step in the restoration process, the brakes were adjusted and rear axle seals were replaced.
The body of the tractor was painted with International Red Rough paint. The side panels were sprayed with White Blanc paint and the dash and rear axle were painted black. Finally, decals from International were applied.
