1978 John Deere 400

Back in 2013 we restored John Deere 400. It was built at the John Deere factory in Horicon, Wisconsin and has a 19.9 HP Kohler engine with a 60” deck. This garden tractor might be old, but this it was built like a tractor. The hood and fenders are metal not fiberglass and they are built to be repaired not thrown away like many cheap garden tractors are made today.

This garden tractor had been well taken care of. Any old tractors have yearly repairs that need to be addressed. When they are not they accumulate to a large repair bill.

We replaced the mower deck spindle bearings, re-sealed the transmission dipstick tube and freed up the deck height adjustment. Otherwise than that we sand blasted the wheels, repaired small dents on sheet metal, sanded, primed, painted and clear this tractor was all that was required.
